Construction Update: TRON Coaster at the Magic Kingdom
During our visit to Magic Kingdom today we notice that construction for the new TRON Lightcycle Run is still going strong and we couldn’t help but give you a first look!
We managed to nab some awesome images of the canopies for the ride starting to take shape!
You can now get clear images of the coaster moving through the building out to where the canopies will be.
We are absolutely amazed at the progress being made to building housing the attraction!
Here’s an awesome look at the canopies being constructed.
As well as a few images of the track winding its way through a corner of Tomorrowland.
The construction, as you can see from the tracks below is one of the reasons why the Walt Disney World Railroad is currently shut down.
We never cease to be impressed at the sheer size and scale of this attraction.
We can’t remember the last time we were so dazzled by a project Disney was working on!
Just a look at the construction site alone lets us know that the TRON coaster is going to be pretty EPIC!
TRON Lightcycle / Run is set to open at Magic Kingdom Park in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021
It is a coster-style attraction that will allow riders to board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles for a thrilling race through a digital frontier!
A similar attraction has already become a fan favorite at Shanghai Disneyland where it opened in 2016.
As of yet, Disney has not announced new regarding delays due to the COVID-19 closures.
However, it is worthy pointing out that construction was delayed during the theme parks shutdown.
Once completed, the coaster will allow guests to feel the sensation of launching out under an undulating canopy on glowing lightcycles! Sounds pretty amazing right!?
As you can see from the images above/below, the space being allotted to Magic Kingdom’s newest attraction is HUGE! We can’t wait to see it once its complete!
Similar to what we see in Shanghai, a majority of the action for this attraction will take place indoors. This massive building has already been erected to house the coaster. We’ll let these awesome images do the talking, so enjoy the visual tour!
