Freddie Prinze Jr. On Kanan In The Rise Of Skywalker
Star Wars Rebels. It’s not so much of a guilty pleasure as it is a semi-unknown delicacy. It’s like saying you’re going to the best sushi place on Cape Cod – those in the know (locals) understand exactly where and why you’re going.
Everyone else (tourists) heads to the seafood place for fish and chips.
So, when you’re in the neighborhood, you partake. And enjoy. This is one such moment.
Recently, I discovered a fun vid of Freddie Prinze Jr. talking about his “work” in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

“Sorta,” he said, when asked by Extra about his cameo in the film. “They called me and asked if I was down to do some Kanan stuff. And I am always [ready] to help my family down there.”
For the tourists, Kanan Jarrus is a once “fallen” Jedi (padawan Caleb Dume), who re-embraces the way of the Force when he encounters talented Force-using boy, Ezra Bridger. Their story fills out the spectacular series Star Wars Rebels.
“I went in and [Matthew] Wood was doing the sound design,” explained Prinze. “It was just him in the room and then JJ [Abrams] came in and broke down the scene; said what was going on. And I’m pretty sure that we all read the same speech. And they just pulled what they wanted from that speech.
“And they didn’t tell anyone who was going to get in and who wasn’t – they just wanted to have a bunch of different Jedi
“So, I am sure that there are some voices [who] were in there as well, that may not have made it. But I didn’t know until the movie came out,” he said.
This video should help:
Moreover, I truly love Freddie Prinze Jr. Always have, in fact; whether it was when he was in She’s All That or even Summer Catch – he’s one of my favorite Hollywood-types. A terrific actor.

Finally, Prinze was just as charming in the full interview for Extra, and talks about his daughter’s love for Star Wars:
