Anaheim Hotel Involved In This Week’s Brawl Have Had Numerous Incidents Since Opening
Earlier in the week, we here at MickeyBlog shared the story about a massive brawl that broke out at Cambria Hotel & Suites, a Disneyland area hotel. Police were called to the scene after a poolside altercation between two kids turned into a fight involving up to 100 resort guests including two stabbings.
As if that wasn’t shocking enough, according to a piece in the Orange County Register, this isn’t the first time the police have been called since the hotel opened in January of this year!
According to reports there have been several phone calls to the hotel in the last 30 days and guys it includes – robbery, fights, domestic violence and two near drownings! This is according to Anaheim Police Sgt Shane Carrington who added, “That’s definitely more than the normal average amount,” Carringer said.
The Cambria is a 12-story 352 room hotel. As you can see from the map above it is located on the corner of Katella Avenue and Anaheim Boulevard. The events that happened on Wednesday resulted in a large police presence. When they arrived at the scene, people were using broomsticks and other items found around the hotel as weapons!
At the time of going to print, a manager at the hotel did not return the Orange County Register’s request for comment. The Cambria Hotel brand is run by Choice Hotels who did release a statement saying, “We are aware of the unfortunate incident that occurred at this franchised property in Anaheim, and we are in contact with hotel management to provide support as they work with law enforcement in the investigation and conduct a full review of what happened.”
The statement goes on to read, “The safety of guests is always top of mind for us and for the owners of our independently owned and operated hotels.”
However, it should be noted that at a time where Governor Gavin Newsom is continuing to push for social distancing and has yet to sign off on the theme parks reopening due to concerns, it also appears in the footage of the brawl that social distancing requirements were also NOT being met at the property. As a result, police have contacted the public health authorities. The Orange County Health Care Agency has yet to confirm if they have plans to investigate.
As we previously mentioned about, there have been other crimes committed at the hotel including a robber that took a watch from a patron by force. There have also been reports of other fights breaking out on the property but not to the scale of Wednesday’s brawl. In another instance this month a child and an adult were hospitalized after a drowning incident.
This is a story that we’ll continue to follow closely here at MickeyBlog. Readers are encouraged to keep checking in with us for further news and updates!
