Registration Extended For Virtual “An Evening With Alan Menken” Event
The Walt Disney Museum is hosting a virtual event “An Evening With Alan Menken. Being dubbed as a musical storytelling experience its the perfect opportunity to hear wonderful Disney anecdotes and lots of fantastic tunes. And we’ve got some fantastic news! It was just announced that registration is being extended until tomorrow (August 6th) at 4pm PT.

There are two components to this awesome evening, the first is a VIP ticketed event Up Close and Personal with Alan Menken where he’ll be joined by long-time friend and collaborator Chris Montan from Disney music as the “reminisce about Alan’s inspiring career.” After that, there will be a FREE performance of Menken’s legendary Disney songs including including “Under the Sea,” “A Whole New World,” and “Be Our Guest,” as well as classics from other films and Broadway plays.
As if that weren’t awesome enough, Alan will also be joined by special guest and friend Lin-Manuel Miranda who is working with him on new songs for Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.
The virtual event will benefit The Walt Disney Family Museum’s At-Promise Youth Animation Academy Initiative. This is an educational program that provides state-of-the art animation and training for young people experiencing economic and social displacement.
As you can see from the information provided above, the event will take place on August 6th at 5pm PT. Registering for the performance is FREE and is still open (I just registered.) There are also sponsorship packages available. For a pledge of $1000 guests can enjoy Alan’s special VIP Chat, an artwork print, themed recipes and even mention on waltdisney.org.
