We Know The Name Of Disney+ LeFou Show
File Under: Credit where credit is due. Collider picked up on this from an article in Variety. Apparently, coming off earning EGOT status, Alan Menken let slip the name of the upcoming Beauty and the Beast spinoff.
Speaking to Variety, specifically of his upcoming projects, Menken said:
I’m excited about the projects I’m doing. I’m working on “Disenchanted” and a new “Beauty and the Beast” prequel, “The Little Town.” I’ve also been working on the new animated picture “Spellbound” with John Lasseter. And I’m doing a bunch of Broadway shows.
About Little Town
Collider’s Drew Taylor explained:
This new musical series, which hasn’t formally begun production, comes from Gad and co-creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, is described by Menken as “a new Beauty and the Beast prequel.” And it’s got an appropriately Beauty and the Beast-y title: Little Town. (Menken calls it The Little Town, but we’ve confirmed that it’s simply Little Town.)
Obviously, the title is a reference to the opening musical number in Beauty and the Beast, “Belle,” which begins:
Little town
It’s a quiet village
Every day
Like the one before
Little town
Full of little people
Waking up to say…
Over at The DisInsider, our friend Skyler Shuler added:
The series is still in the development stages but is expected to take place before the events of Beauty and the Beast and will expand upon the universe. Evans and Gad are the only actors from the film that are currently set to return. Still, Disney is expected to engage Emma Watson (Belle), Dan Stevens (Beast), Ewan McGregor (Lumiere), Ian McKellan (Cogsworth), and Emma Thompson (Mrs. Potts) for potential appearances.
And pointed out the video for the song:
