Look for Guaranteed Staterooms
From time to time, Disney Cruise Line will offer discounted or guaranteed staterooms. These are rooms that have been deeply discounted closer to the actual sail date of the cruise.
However, there is a catch! While you will be able to choose a inside stateroom, oceanview stateroom, or stateroom with verandah; you will not be able to choose the location of your room. It would be assigned by Disney Cruise Line on your embarkation day or a few days before.
Another caveat to guaranteed staterooms is that they have to be paid in full at the time of booking and are non-refundable. There are a few other restrictions but there are the biggest ones. However, if you are 100% sure you are going to go, are looking for more of a “last minute escape,” and do not care the location of your room, they really are a good deal!

Pick an Off-Peak Time to Sail
First off, let’s talk about the times of the year that are notorious for being the most expensive: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. In addition, prices in the Summer also creep up.
If Summer is the only time that works for your calendar to sail because of school, look at the very beginning of the Summer or very end. So, look at it as a end of the school year celebration or way to kick off a new school year!
In addition, these times of the year are on average a bit less expensive than others:
- January – After New Years Week
- Early February
- May
- September
- October
- Early November
- Early December

Discounts for Select Groups
It is fairly common for Disney Cruise Line to offer discounts for military members and Florida residents. There are similar to the guaranteed staterooms and are only usually released about 50 days before a sail date. Valid proof is required to be sent in at the time of booking.
In addition, Disney Vacation Club Members might see a discount available from time to time.
Generally, Disney Cruise Line does not offer broad or general discounts that you might see from Walt Disney World. However, the past few Winters, Disney has offered reduced deposits on select itineraries.
