Vader & Anakin To Appear On Obi-Wan Show?
File Under: A Fun Thought – Darth Vader vs. Obi-Wan, Round 2
One of the more fascinating thoughts about the upcoming Star Wars Obi-Wan Disney+ show regards how Anakin Skywalker fits into the storyline.
Many bytes remain in use regarding speculative ideas on Kenobi’s activities on Tatooine; the time between the end of Revenge of the Sith and when fans next saw “Old Ben” in Star Wars Rebels (Twin Suns).
However, I’m convinced that Vader MUST figure prominently in the show, as either a driving force or overreaching stimulus on Kenobi as he watches Luke grow up. And I retain lots of company in the form of those who believe Anakin might actually appear in the series.
Despite this week’s rumors of Vader’s appearance, “How is that possible…” you ask?
Anakin, Vader & Obi-Wan?

Still here? Good.
Well, Campbell Clark at LRMonline.com gave a pretty good synopsis of the theory and why it is possible to see both Anakin and Vader.
- Anakin via flashback…
- And Vader via a non-Luke MacGuffin
In a very fun piece, Clark wrote:
I’ve seen many fans debate this week whether Vader and Kenobi can meet between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Well yes, they can, whether you like the idea or not is a different question. Remember Vader’s words in A New Hope. “I sense something, a presence I’ve not felt since…” Now everyone assumes this is Mustafar, but it does not have to be. So then fans said, what about this line. “When I left you I was but the learner, now I am the Master. ” Clearly he says when I left you, which would have been prior to Mustafar actually.
However, whilst I would be happy to have a confrontation of some kind between Vader and Kenobi, I do not want that to be a fight. Kenobi’s goal is not to defeat Vader, it’s to protect Luke. I would have Vader give chase as Obi-Wan and an unwitting crew run from the Empire with the [MacGuffin].
Seriously, read the whole piece; lots of fun.
And hey, everyone knows I’d be watching this show if it solely focused on Obi-Wan meditating cross-legged on the floor of his hut on Tatooine.
But, much like the excitement, we heard about when Boba Fett was rumored to appear on The Mandalorian, an appearance by Vader would engender that same kind of engagement.
