A Fully Smoke-Free Backstage Area is Announced by Disneyland
Last March Disneyland announced that all in-park smoking areas would be phased out and the parks would be smoke-free. Smoking areas would be moved to areas outside of the park. Now, it has been announced that all areas at Disneyland, including backstage areas, will be completely smoke-free. This announcement was made to cast members through a memo.
It was also released that Cast Members who seek help with the cessation of smoking have access to health coaches and “other smoking cessation resources” through the cast member hub. The smoke-free backstage move was not entirely health related. It is also an attempt to encourage cast members and guests not to gather together in groups and practice social distancing. Smoking areas were areas where people would gather together in a small space in order to smoke.
Disneyland Parks remain closed with just a few retail areas at Downtown Disney open. Masks and temperature checks are required to enter Downtown Disney and it is also a smoke-free area.
