CDC Extends No Sail Order, Disney Cruises Likely Impacted
Once again the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has extended it’s no sail order. It was previously extended back in April unless of three conditions were conditions were met. One of those conditions was that 100 days would have needed to pass from April 15. 100 days from April 15 would be July 24 which makes sense why the order was extended today.
The new CDC order is similar to the last one and mandates that one of the three needs to occur for cruises to resume. Please remember that just one of three needs to occur and NOT all three.
Here is the official CDC cruising order:
On July 16, 2020, CDC extended the No Sail Order and Suspension of Further Embarkation; Notice of Modification and Extension and Other Measures Related to Operations signed by the CDC Director on April 9, 2020—subject to the modifications and additional stipulated conditions as set forth in this Order. The Order is effective upon signature and will be published in the Federal Register.
This Order is in effect until one of the following occurs:
- The expiration of the Secretary of Health and Human Services’ declaration that COVID-19 constitutes a public health emergency,
- The CDC Director rescinds or modifies the order based on specific public health or other considerations, or
- September 30, 2020.
At this time, most cruise lines, including Disney Cruise Line have suspended all cruises until September 15, 2020. With this new order, unless one of the first two criteria are met, cruises will not resume until October 1, 2020 at the earliest.
