John Animatronic at Carousel of Progress Is Having a Rough Return To Work
If you’re a fan of classic Disney like most of us here at MickeyBlog then you know that no visit to the Magic Kingdom would be complete without a visit to Carousel of Progress to check in on John and the rest of the family.
However, guests enjoying the new socially distanced seating at this much-loved attraction are hoping John has “A Great, Big Beautiful Tomorrow” because today wasn’t so great. From a video shared on Twitter this afternoon, it actually looks like John is having a rather difficult return to work. Let’s take a look:

Thank you to the Magic Blitz Podcast for sharing this awesome video with the world. We agree that today was certainly a hot one in Orlando but maybe someone needs to tell John not to fan quite so furiously!
This is just one of many mishaps that have happened to this classic attraction over the years.
Back in February, John was having another rough day when mid-show his hand fell off and tumbled to the floor!
Going back a bit further to last December, two very intoxicated audience members decided to leap onto the stage at Carousel of Progress and become part of the show before the production came to a screeching halt and guests were evacuated.

As you can see from the Tweet above, that incident actually did quite a bit of damage with a butter churn being knocked over and the rug pulled out of place.
Our John has certainly been through a lot over the years. But we hope that day two of his return to work runs a bit smoother.. And if you’ve never checked out this under-the-radar attraction be sure to give it a go during your next visit. It is actually a wonderfully preserved bit Disney history (on its better days) and was created for the 1964 World’s Fair in New York to showcase the ability of technology to shape our lives!
