The Jedi Mind: New Book Coming Soon
I have been waiting for this for a long time; an official Star Wars book speaking to meditation and mindfulness.
As someone who has delved deep (at times) into mindfulness, but has often found texts on the subject to be very bland, Amy Ratcliffe’s “The Jedi Mind” fits the prescription.
What’s On The Jedi Mind?
Illustrated by Christina Chung, the book’s boilerplate explains:
Star Wars: The Jedi Mind takes quotations and lessons from Star Wars and pairs them with practices such as breathing, posture, and meditation.
The Jedi Code is focused on peace, knowledge, serenity, and balance—principles that readers can engage in their own lives.
The philosophical tenets are applicable not just in the galaxy far, far away, but also in our own galaxy, here and now.
- Quoted wisdom offers day-to-day life lessons
- An accessible pop culture spin on the Star Wars universe
- Features 20 color illustrations to illuminate the book’s thoughtful advice
It Starts With Meditation
For more, and as per usual, we rely on Kristin Baver to fill in the details on The Jedi Mind. She spoke to Ms. Ratcliffe about the book:
StarWars.com: Fictional stories can be such an important tool for understanding our own feelings as well as universal experiences and ideas. What inspired you to start thinking about mindfulness and how it’s exhibited in the Star Wars saga?
It started with meditation. Pausing to meditate and breathe opened the door to mindfulness for me. It’s just one of the many ways to practice mindfulness, but it’s the cornerstone for me. Whenever I would meditate, I would think about the Jedi… I considered the Force and how the Jedi teach others about it and the things Jedi say about the Force. Obviously, the Force doesn’t exist in our lives, and mindfulness is not called out in Star Wars, but they pair together beautifully. Amy Ratcliffe
