Character Dining at Topolino’s Terrace Still Dazzles at Disney’s Riviera Resort
Here at MickeyBlog, we decided to celebrate the 4th of July with a visit to one of our favorite places- Disney’s Riviera Resort. Topolino’s Terrace, the table service eatery on the premises will be THE place for character dining as part of Disney’s phased reopening.
We were so excited to be able to check out the Breakfast a la Art with Mickey & Friends this morning for a big dose of Disney magic, Mickey Waffles and of course characters.
Check out our Facebook video of the whole experience here:
For those unfamiliar with the offering at Topolino’s, this rooftop restaurant offers an exclusive storybook dining experience. There is a prix fixe menu with delicious choices for the whole family. Cuisine includes fresh pastries and bread followed by a whole host of delicious entrees like Quiche Gruyère with house-made pancetta, Sour Cream Waffle, Smoked Salmon, Two Eggs Any Style, and more.
From the moment we arrived on property it felt good to be “Home!”
Social distancing signs have been posted on all of the elevators letting guests know that ONLY 1 family or four people could board the elevator at a time.
In another measure designed to eliminate the long lines at character dining check-in, signs are now posted with a QR code that can be used to check in!
QR Code check-in signs were posted in a few different locations during our visit to prevent crowds from building up.
As you can see there weren’t any real crowds this morning at the check-in area.
The view as always was stunning at this gorgeous and sophisticated property!
Here’s another look at the view!
We are a HUGE fan of the breakfast here right down to the paint pot brimming with pastries!
From the Belgian waffles to the bacon, everything was cooked to perfection!
And for those with kids or kids at heart, there’s always Mickey Waffles!!
But most of you will want to know about the characters! The official description for the character dining experience on disneyworld.com says, “While enjoying breakfast and the bird’s eye views, Mickey and his friends are excited to celebrate with you! As part of our new Character Dining experience, all Guests will be able to see Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck as they parade through the restaurant in their stylish outfits unique to Topolino’s Terrace!”
For those of you that have done character dining before, with social distancing rules in place it is a bit of a different experience.
As you can see from the signage above, the characters will now parade through the restaurant and stop at intervals to pose for photos.
We still managed to get some incredible photos and the interactions (if even from a distance) are still fun.
However, guests are not permitted to get close to or touch the characters. This means that sadly, you won’t be able to get that selfie until the social distancing measures are relaxed.
However, we still had an AMAZING time and don’t think it took away from the experience!
There is no longer an opportunity to get autographs from the Disney characters but there were these cute Topolino’s postcards that were handed out. They are the perfect little memento to remember this delightful meal!
Advanced reservations are recommended and can be made up to 60-days before your visit. In some instances, same-day reservations may-be available. Reservations can be made using the My Disney Experience app.
