European Union Bans US Travelers Due To COVID-19
Disneyland Paris may be readying the parks for reopening but don’t go making your Paris plans just yet. According to a recent piece in the New York Times, the European Union announced today that US travellers will not be able to travel to Europe due to the continued threat of COVID-19.
This comes at a time where the EU has approved travel to and from other countries including Australia, Canada and New Zealand. Like the USA, other countries excluded Brazil and Russia.
According to the piece in the times, a traveller’s country of residence NOT their nationality will determine their eligibility to visit countries in the European Union. The policy is not legally binding but the 27 nations that make up the EU risk having neighbouring countries close borders with them which could cost the country during a time where most are struggling for economic survival.
The EU announced that the list of state countries will be reviewed every two weeks with changes reflective of COVID-19 outbreaks worldwide. Officials in Brussels announced this morning that countries could be added or removed from the list depending on figures regarding the spread of the coronavirus.
This policy has gained support as a “sensible way to navigate the continent’s reopening as the spread of the virus shifts and ebbs.”
So what does this mean for Disney travellers? As we’ve previously reported here at MickeyBlog Disney Cruise Line as well as Adventures By Disney have cancelled options through the Summer. However, those hoping to visit Disneyland Paris which is opening up in just a few weeks will need to wait a bit longer before making those travel plans.
