Union Representing Disney Cast Members Comments on Mandate To Stop Selling Alcohol in Florida
As you can see from the post above the Union is currently looking into which bars are covered under the new mandate. Union workers will be meeting with Disney at the beginning of next week to discuss the closures.
The Union advises that all union workers who were recalled to work and signed the contract will continue to get paid the $13 – $17.80 an hour depending on seniority as outlined in the contract. The post also shows a copy of the FULL state of Florida mandate.
According to a recent piece on Yahoo Lifestyle, the bar closures is largely attributed to the spike of COVID-19 cases in young adults many of whom flocked to bars after they reopened in the states three weeks ago. In many instances, social distancing guidelines weren’t being maintained and bar owners not following the 50% capacity rule.
As you can see above, the order prohibits any establishment that makes more than 50% of its revenue from alcohol sales from serving alcohol for consumption. Bars are still able to sell alcohol in sealed containers for consumption offsite. Restaurants that primarily sells food can still serve alcohol seated at tables.
More than 24,000 new cases have been reported statewide since Saturday. However, when asked if he plans to issue a statewide mask order or to scale back some of the businesses given the green light to reopen he said that he didn’t have any plans to do either.
Over the next few days we expect a comprehensive list of bar closures at Walt Disney World to be posted. Keep following along with us and we’ll share the details with you as soon as we know more.
