Disney World Launched NEW Theme Park Reservation System This Week With A Few Hiccups
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog then you know that it’s been a HUGE week for Disney news. Not only did 2021 Walt Disney World vacation packages go on sale last week but Disney World also launched a new theme park reservation system requiring guests with valid Walt Disney World tickets to pre-book what theme park you’ll be visiting on each day. Without the park reservation, even guests with tickets will not be allowed into the parks.
As you can imagine, the Park Pass system experienced some highs and lows at launch this week in what CBS News called a “not-so-magical’ debut.
One of the common complaints during launch week was that potential park goers were being told that ALL reservations were booked up until February 2021. This was disconcerting for guests that already had Walt Disney World vacation packages.
Many customers also reported hours-long hold time to access the system with many finding that by the time there were able to book that some days were already sold out. While others were trying to make reservations only to be confronted with a blank screen or an error message.
CBS MoneyWatch spoke to Disney regarding the new reservation system on Monday. According to the spokesperson, there wasn’t a problem with the system but rather with guests trying to book before it was their booking window. For instance, the system won’t open up to accommodate annual pass holders until Friday or those without a Walt Disney World resort reservation until Sunday.
However, that didn’t stop many users from heading to Twitter to vent their frustrations with the System.
“I have been trying for hours to make the park reservations via Disney Park Pass system,” Twitter user Jim Gallo said. “It says everything is blocked off until February. What gives?”
#Disney Disney Park Pass System just crumbled before it even opened they've forced EVERYONE worldwide with resort reservations for next 15 months to log in & make a reservation for their park for each day.
Crazy to create this peak rather than rolling time window for reservations— Tim Wappat (@TimWappat) June 22, 2020
These issued carried through to yesterday with many of those looking to make Walt Disney World reservations into 2021 finding that the system was greyed out.
@WDWGuestService your Disney Park Pass System is completely seized. I have a resort reservation and have been trying for hours to make park reservations for September, meanwhile your hold music keeps cheerily telling me I can make my reservations online when I definitely CAN NOT

As we previously reported here at MickeyBlog, under the new Park Pass system, guests that wish to visit the theme parks will in addition to tickets be required to pre-register at each of Disney’s four theme park. This means you must decide now which Disney World theme park you wish to visit on each. Park Passes can be reserved using Disney World’s My Disney Experience account as soon as valid Walt Disney World theme park tickets are linked to your reservation. Park Passes can currently be reserved through the end of September 2021.
According to CBS News, for Annual Passholders and Single Ticket Buyers worried about availability Disney has said that it will be making more park passes avaialble at the end of this week.
