The Polynesian is Open and Properly Socially Distanced
MickeyBlog was around Walt Disney World today checking out the social distancing markers at the resorts, buses, restaurants and walkways. Several resorts were back in business today including the Polynesian Villas and Bungalows. Although the crowds were thin (almost nonexistent) because the parks do not open until July 11th, it was nice to see cast members in their Polynesian shirts welcoming guests.
Social Distancing markers were visible in the Polynesian lobby, outside the resort and in Captain Cook’s quick service restaurant.

Pools at the Polynesian are open also with safety guidelines in place.
Signage encourages mobile ordering at the Polynesian as well as other quick-service locations and social distancing at tables. QR codes are available to make mobile ordering easier.
Social Distancing markers are in place at quick-service windows and mobile order pick-ups.

As evidenced by the signage at the Polynesian today, health and safety guidelines are in place. Disney’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Pamela Hymel released the required safety guidelines a few weeks ago and the first resorts opening at Disney are proving these guidelines are being taken very seriously.
- reducing capacity
- temperature checks for guests prior to entering the theme parks
- increasing cleaning and disinfecting (especially in high traffic areas)
- adjusting experiences to accommodate physical distancing
- requiring face coverings (for guests 2 and older)
- empowering guests with options like contactless payments, handwashing and hand sanitizer locations.
- Increasing the frequency of cleaning in work areas
- adjusting our work practices to promote physical distancing
- requiring temperature checks and wearing face coverings.
Disney resorts will continue to open before and after the park openings on July 11th (Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom) and July 15th (EPCOT and Hollywood Studios).
