IDW Comics Reboots Star Wars Adventures
They’re a little more lighthearted and certainly more suited for children. And we’re thrilled about the return of Star Wars Adventures.
Rich Johnston, writing for Bleeding Cool, explained:
DW Publishing is relaunching their Star Wars Adventures line of comic books, with two stories in each issue.
No. 1 – 2020
The boilerplate from the September solicitations states:
An exciting new era begins! Each issue in this monthly series will feature two stories starring all your favorite Star Wars characters! Between the events of The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, Poe and Finn have taken Rey to a remote planet to continue her Jedi training. But they’re surprised to find that the First Order’s reach extends far and wide. Plus, an all-new tale of the Dark Lord of the Sith himself, Darth Vader!
Star Wars Adventures, No. 1 – 2017
BTW, the original run of Star Wars Adventures premiered in 2017.
It was billed as:
Introducing an exciting new era in all-ages Star Wars comics! Each issue in this monthly series will feature two stories, starring your favorite Star Wars characters from all the films! This debut issue will reveal Rey’s early adventures on Jakku as well as a comical tale of clone catastrophe!
The Clone Wars – Battle Tales
And, currently, Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Battle Tales tells more of Anakin’s experiences alongside Obi-Wan.
The Star Wars Adventures spin-off is explained by S.J. Twining of Screenrant:
With the galaxy divided, the Jedi Council dispatches Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Plo Koon to lead the struggle against Separatist forces in Star Wars Adventures: The Clone Wars – Battle Tales. A new weekly series from IDW Publishing, Battle Tales explores untold stories of The Clone Wars told by veteran troopers Captain Rex, Commander Cody and the dutiful clones assigned escort duty with the daring, and often reckless, Jedi. With new adventures from before the dark times, Battle Tales features fan-favorites from The Clone Wars animated series including the villainous Count Dooku, Asajj Ventress, and General Grievous.
I don’t want to spoil myself on this one, as I just picked it up. So, we’ll stop there.
But I will definitely add the new Star Wars Adventures to my pull list this September.
