Breaking: Disney Dream Crew Repatriated
After months at sea, 268 Disney Dream crew members are onboard a British Airways plane ready to head home in just a few minutes.
The Dream just returned to Barbados to allow more of her crew to begin the repatriation process. Last weekend (June 14th), over 400 crew members from both the Dream and Wonder were allowed to repatriate back to England. Today at 7pm, the additional crew members are able to head home.
Disney Cruise Line, like many cruise lines, have extended their cancellations for some ships until the fall. They recently announced that in accordance with Cruise Lines International Association regarding the extension of suspended passenger operations from U.S. ports, Disney Cruise Line will be cancelling Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy sailings through September 15, 2020.
Many crew members on the ships had finished their contract and were stuck on ships. Cruises were first cancelled in March and many crew members are just now getting off the ships and heading home. In May, crew members for several nations including South Africa, the Philippines and Brazil were allowed to repatriate. European countries including the UK were much later.
It is good news that the Dream crew members are finally able to go home and see family members. MickeyBlog hopes they stay healthy and we see them sailing again soon under better circumstances.
