Disney World May Require Guests to Upgrade to DVC Deluxe Vacation Club Villa Resorts at Guest’s Cost Upon Reopening
Walt Disney World will begin to reopen their Resort Hotels on Monday, June 22. The only hotels that will be reopening during this first phase with be select Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Deluxe Villa Resorts as well as The Cabins and Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. While we weren’t sure if additional Resort Hotels would be reopening when the Parks open on July 11, we are getting some additional information on this today.

As a Travel Agent, I just called to check on a client that had a reservation booked at Disney’s Pop Century from July 10 to July 14 to see what was going on. I was informed that Pop Century will not be open for these dates and if the Guest would like to keep their reservation for those dates, they would have to pay the difference to upgrade to one of the DVC Resorts or Fort Wilderness Resort options that will be open during the initial phase.
As of right now, this is the complete list of Walt Disney World Resort Hotels that are scheduled to reopen as of June 22 and into July:
- Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
- Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
- Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village
- Disney’s Beach Club Villas
- Disney’s BoardWalk Villas
- Disney’s Old Key West Resort
- Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows
- Disney’s Riviera Resort
- Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
- The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

Walt Disney World has yet to announce when other Resorts outside of these DVC Deluxe Villa Resort Hotels and The Campsites and Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort listed above will reopen. However it is looking like all value options, all moderate options (with the exception of the Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort), and all deluxe options will not be open when the Parks initially reopen in July requiring those Guests wishing to keep their current reservations to upgrade.
