Could New Walt Disney World Theme Park Reservation System Be Used Through 2021?
As you are probably aware, when the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom reopen on July 11 and EPCOT and Hollywood Studios open on July 15, a theme park reservation will be required to enter the Parks in addition to a valid ticket. Not many details have been released on the system yet but it appears that the system is here to stay – at least through 2021.
Per Scott Gustin on Twitter (@ScottGustin), several travel agents in the United Kingdom have received notification from Disney that points to the theme park reservation system continuing into 2021.
Multiple travel agencies based in the UK have received communication from Disney that suggests Walt Disney World plans to use the park reservation system through 2021.
The system, still being developed by Disney, appears to be sticking around for a while.

If Disney plans on using the new theme park reservation system for a while, this would explain their delay in getting it rolled out. In addition to having the ability to make daily theme park reservations, the system will also give Guests the ability to make Advanced Dining Reservations, FastPasses, and other reservations. From what we have seen so far, it appears the system will still operate through your My Disney Experience account but just a new infrastructure.
Travel Agents here in the United States have not received any word on the timeline of how long the new system will be in place. However, Agents in the United Kingdom mostly have access to information ahead of us because they have the ability to book further in advance.
Many are speculating that the new theme park reservation system could be the new “Disney Genie” app that was introduced at the most recent D23 Expo. The app was supposed to revolutionize your theme park planning process and expected to be rolled out by the end of this Summer. No word yet on if this will be the case though.
