James Gunn Addresses Rumors of Rocket & Groot Spin-Off
Have you been longing to see a Guardians of the Galaxy spin-off starring Rocket and Groot? You’re not alone, it seems. Director James Gunn finally addresses the rumors that a Rocket & Groot spin-off might be coming.
During a Q&A session on Instagram, Gunn revealed that while a spin-off between the two characters has never been in the works, he does not rule out the possibility of this taking place in the future. While we are sad to think that this won’t be happening anytime soon, it means we can’t give up hope!

Rocket and Groot are arguably two of the most beloved characters from the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. The witty and sarcastic Rocket is a hilarious counterpart to the ever-changing Groot. The dynamic duo will appear together in the third installment of the Guardians franchise, which does not currently have a release date.

The director has previously shared that Rocket will be a major player in Guardians of the Galaxy 3, and we will learn far more about his back story. This is exciting for fans of the franchise, and the raccoon’s origin has largely been a mystery so far.

James Gunn also revealed on the Instagram Q&A that he strongly relates to Rocket’s character. He did, however, mention that if any character got their own film, he would like it to be Drax. To be fair, a solo movie starring the dry and matter-of-fact Drax would be hilarious, and we’d definitely be up for it! That being said, a spin-off starring Rocket & Groot still sounds that something that we’d love to see happen.
