Disney sets August Release Date For ‘The Personal History Of David Copperfield’
This past week was a big one for Disney Movie News. Just a few days ago, Disney made the announcement that ‘The One and Only Ivan’ would be skipping theaters and heading straight to Disney. Today we’ve got news of another upcoming release.
According to Disney Searchlight Pictures’ The Personal History of David Copperfield will be released in cinemas on August 14th.
Director Armando Iannucci (Veep) will be at the helm of this Charles Dickens adaptation with Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) in the title role. The film has already premiered in Toronto last September.
Many are saying the film could be a potential Oscar contender. As ScreenDaily tells us, speculation is still ongoing as to whether the Academy will postpone its 93rd Oscars from February 2021 until later in the Spring to expand eligibility and dates.
Peter Jackson’s music documentary The Beatles: Get Back was also part of Disney’s Acquisition of Fox last year and has seen it’s dates moved from September 4th up to August 27th. Last but not least is 20th Century Studios musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie which is directed by Jonathan Butterell. It is being shifted from October 23rd to January 22nd, 2021.
We will continue to follow Disney’s film schedule closely. Readers are encouraged to keep checking in with us for the latest news and updates.
