Your Quick Guide To the Disney Family of Wines
Unless you attended the workshops and seminars at Epcot’s Food & Wine Festivals you may not realize that Disney has an incredible family of wines many that are served up in some of there most elegant eateries Monsieur Paul, Victor & Albert’s and more.
If you’re a wine connoisseur and will be visiting Disney California Adventure in the future be sure to stop by the Al Fresco Tasting Terrace which boasts an incredible wine list that focuses on Disney wines.
Whether you’re interested in ordering wines online or making a list of your Disney vacation must-do list, here’s a quick rundown of Disney wines that you’ll want to be on the lookout as compiled by VinePair.com.
FESS PARKER WINERY
Here’s a bit of movie trivia for you. Fess Parker Winery is the place of that awesome scene in Sideways when the main character drinks the spit bucket but did you actually know there’s a Disney connection? Fess Parker, the late founder of the winery actually played the role of Davey Crockett in the Disney miniseries and starred in other Disney flicks like “Old Yeller,” “The Great Locomotive Chase” and “Westward Ho!” The winery located in the Santa Ynez Valley is still owned by the Parker family and has gained recognition for its Pinot Noirs and Syrah.
Disney Family of Wines offers multiple Fess Parker wines including Riesling, Ashley’s Vineyard Pinot Noir and Rodney’s Vineyard Syrah.
MACMURRAY ESTATE VINEYARDS
Chances are you recognize beloved Hollywood actor Fred MacMurray who played the father on My Three Sons and starred in legendary Disney films like The Shaggy Dog, The Absent-Minded Professor and The Happiest Millionaire. He also holds the coveted distinction of being the FIRST person to be officially named as a Disney Legend. Though MacMurray ranch didn’t get into the wine business until after the actor’s death it is still a family affair with daughter Kate MacMurray overseeing the winemaking on the property.
On the Disney Family of Wines list you’ll find MacMurray Estate’s Sonoma Coast Pinot Cris as well as the Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.
CHAPPELLET WINERY
This vineyard is owned by Molly Chappellet who is the sister of Frank G. Wells who was the president and COO of the Walt Disney Company from 1984 – 1994. The Chappellet Winery estate is in the Pritchard Hill area on the east side of Napa in the Vaca mountains. This is a highly esteemed winery and there’s even a waiting list to join their wine club.
On the Disney Family of Wines menu be on the lookout for Chappellet’s Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon or the Cervantes Mountain Cuvee which is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot.
SKYWALKER VINEYARDS
The Force is strong with this vineyard! The father of Star Wars George Lucas planet the first vines at Skywalker Vineyards in Marin County back in 1991. The company has since purchased French vineyard Château Margüi in Provence and launched a second label, Sommità. Italian for “summit.”
When it comes to the Disney Family of Wines, be on the lookout for Skywalker Vineyard’s Sommita Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
SILVERADO VINEYARDS
Silverado Vineyards was actually started by Walt’s daughter Diane along with her husband Ron Miller who was president and CEO of The Walt Disney Company from 1978-1984. Diane was also the founder of the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco. Silverado Winery is located in the Stag’s Leap area of Napa .
The vineyard has added a few Disney-themed wines to the Disney Family of Wines list including Fantasia, Sangiovese-Cabernet Sauvignon blend.
KURT RUSSELL’S GOGI WINES
Kurt Russell purchased the land in Santa Rita Hills after filming Death Wish by Quentin Tarantino which was filmed in the area. Russell named the wines GoGi after his loved ones. Goldie Chardonnay is for Russell’s partner Goldie Hawn and Lulu Viognier is for his mother. Each year’s vintage of Pinto Noir gets a nickname after another family member. This includes 2015 “Southpaw” for son Oliver Hudson”, 2016s “29” for son Wyatt Russell and 2014’s Birdie for daughter Kate Hudson.
Be on the lookout for the Goldie Chardonnay and the Southpaw Pinot Noir in the Disney Family of Wines List.
FRANK FAMILY VINEYARDS
Richard Frank served as the president of Disney Studios from 1985 to 1994 overseeing movie releases. His vineyards are located in Calistoga complete with a tasting room jam-packed with Disney memorabilia The winery is best known for the Winston Hill Cabernet Blend.
You’ll find three Frank Family selections on the Disney Family of Wines. This includes a sparkling Blanc de Blancs, a Chardonnay and a Cabernet Sauvignon.
As we previously reported here at MickeyBlog, Al Fresco Tasting Terrace is a fantastic place to enjoy these wines in person. This walk-up wine bar at California Adventure has many of the varieties on our list in stock. At the moment, the tasting terrace is a passholder only perk. However there are many other locations where you can enjoy these wines including:

- Grand Californian Hotel- Disneyland
- Citricos – Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort – Walt Disney World
- California Grill- Disney’s Contemporary Resort – Walt Disney World
