9 Ways Your Next Walt Disney World Vacation Will be Magical but Different
Today marks one month until the Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World will reopen. As you know, many changes have been implemented to ensure Guests and Cast Members alike will stay safe and healthy. These changes will make your experience a bit different but just as magical at the same time. Here are the top 9 differences you will notice on your next vacation:
1. Mandatory Temperature Checks
One of the first differences you will notice on your next Walt Disney World vacation will be right when you enter. Currently, all Guests entering Disney Springs are required to have their temperature scanned and they same requirement will be in place for the four Walt Disney World Theme Parks. Temperature checks will also be required for all Cast Members.
2. Guest Experience Teams
When Guests visit Walt Disney World on their next vacation, they will see Guest Experience Teams roaming the Parks. These teams will be on hand to assist Guests with any questions as well as making sure everyone is practicing social distancing measures.
3. Reservation System
Before you can even enter the Parks, you will be required to have two things. 1. A valid theme park ticket. 2. A reservation to enter the park.
Walt Disney World has announced a new reservation system will be implemented before the Parks being reopening to the public on July 11. Not many details have been shared on how the new system will work but we will be sure to provide those details when they become available.
4. Face Coverings
Probably one of the most different and polarizing differences Guests will notice on their next Walt Disney World vacation is the mask requirement. Disney has confirmed that all Guests ages 2 and up and Cast Members will be required to wear masks .
5. Play Ares Will be Closed
Play areas in the Parks and at the Walt Disney World Resort Hotels will be closed to Guests temporarily when the Hotels and Parks being to reopen.
6. Parks Will Operate at Limited Capacity
To me, this is one of the things I am looking forward to the most on my next Walt Disney World vacation – lower crowds! Disney has confirmed that capacity rates will be much lower when the Parks initially reopen. Lower capacity = shorter wait times for attractions!
7. Character Meet and Greets Suspended
When Walt Disney World reopens, character meet and greets as well as character dining will be temporarily suspended. But, that doesn’t mean Guests won’t be able to see their favorite Disney Pals! Characters will still be in the Parks but just in a different capacity to delight Guests.
8. Changes in Dining
Once Walt Disney World reopens, Disney will do all they can to make sure when you order food that the person-to-person contact is limited. Disney is hoping most guests will not use cash to pay for their meal and use Mobile Orderings for Quick Service meals via the My Disney Experience app.
9. Parades and Fireworks Suspended
Unfortunately, you will notice that your favorite Festival of Fantasy Parade as well as fireworks including Happily Ever After will be temporarily suspend on your next Walt Disney World vacation.
Remember, these changes are only TEMPORARY! Things will be back up and running just how you remembered before we know it!
I know if you have a Walt Disney World vacation planned in the near future, these might sound like a bummer. But, I promise you, the magic is still alive and real! And, I’m excited for those lower crowds!
