Josh D’Amaro Releases Official Statement About the Reopening Of The Theme Parks
What an exciting Wednesday afternoon. If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog then you know that Disney just announced reopening plans for Disneyland Resort. Let’s take a look:
First things first, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure will be officially opening on July 17th. Similar to the model followed at Walt Disney World, Downtown Disney, Disneyland’s shop, dining and entertainment district will be opening on July 9th and the hotels (Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel) will be opening on July 23rd.
With all this new information, Chairman Josh D’Amaro has just released his first statement regarding the opening of the theme parks since he moved into his new role earlier this Spring. You can find the letter in its entirety here.
In the statement, D’Amaro addresses the choice to go for a gradual phased re-opening saying, “We are purposefully taking baby steps during this very intentional phased approach.” He adds, “As one of the first major theme parks to close our operations and the last to reopen, we have been deliberate about keeping the health and safety of our cast, guests and local communities top of mind.”
Though the Disneyland re-opening announcement wasn’t as specific regarding health and safety protocols as Walt Disney World one was, what we do know is that we can expect social distancing, sanitation and reduced capacity to be a part of the July plans.
As D’Amaro says in his statement, “We’re fortunate to be guided by a talented team of professionals who’ve helped us implement a variety of new health and safety measures reflecting the guidance of local health and government authorities. These are designed with both the cast and guests in mind for the unique environments of each of our parks, resorts and stores.”
D’Amaro also highlights that YES! the theme park experience will be different but that the Disney magic prevails. To use his words, “While certain aspects of your visit may change, I assure you the quality of our storytelling, magic of our experiences and the caliber of our cast members has not. We recognize the trust that you have in the Disney brand, and we will continue to earn your trust every day. ”
The statement concludes with a note about Shanghai Disneyland with D’Amaro stating that guest satisfaction at the first theme park to open post-COVID-19 shutdown was extremely high and that they’ve used the experience to “make sure that as we bring back experiences, our attention to promoting your safety, maintaining your trust and providing unique ways for you to come together with family and friends to create new memories remains high as well.”
We are excited with the news that the Disney theme parks on both coasts will be open by the end of July! Readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog for the latest news and updates!
