Disney Releases Official Statement On The Reopening of Disney World Resorts Including Safety Measures
Over the weekend we here at MickeyBlog had been sharing with you the latest updates regarding the reopening of Walt Disney World Resorts on June 22nd including changes to policies and procedures that we’ve cobbled together based on modifications to the disneyworld.com website. Today Disney World is making it official with and official update from Katie Kelly who is the VP for Worldwide Safety Services at Disney Parks.
The company released a lengthy release this morning regarding the steps Disney is taking to ready the resorts for reopening and to provide peace of mind to guests regarding safety in a COVID-19 World.
Here’s everything you need to know.
According to the open letter to resort guests, Disney’s health and safety team has taken a close look at experiences at Walt Disney Worlds 30+ resorts including everything from resort and room cleaning to check-in, dining and entertainment. As a result, Disney has come up with updates and enhancements with a focus on health and safety which have been made as a result of guidance from the health of government
During Your Resort Stay
Here are some of the changes that are being made or encouraged to help you stay with confidence:
Online Check-In – Disney is encouraging the use of its Online Check-In service through the My Disney Experience App.
Luggage Delivery- Bell services is being redesigned but you can still have your luggage delivered straight to your room.
Increased Cleaning – Disney resorts will increase cleaning in high-traffic areas including elevators, escalators, handrails, benches, tables, handles, restrooms and more. The company will also expand the number of hand sanitizer locations across the property.
Services In Public Areas – Restaurants, lobbies, pools, fitness centers and other public areas will have their services adjusted to include preventative measures to stop the spread of COVID-19. This includes physical distancing, reducing capacity and implementing enhanced cleaning measures.
Limiting Contact Services – Disney World resorts will be using technology to minimize the contact between guests and cast members. This includes cashless payments, mobile ordering and Magic Bands.
Enhanced Cleaning in Resort Rooms
Disney also released an infographic outlining specifically what cleaning measures are going into effect to ensure safety and sanitation measures in guest rooms. This includes the following:
- Door Handles, Pulls and Knobs – Will all receive enhanced cleaning before check-in.
- Light Switches and Controls – This is another area that will be cleaned more thoroughly.
- Closet Amenities- Items including wall safes, ironing board and hangars will also be cleaned.
- Beverage Areas – Coffee maker will be thoroughly cleaned and cutlery, condiments and cups will be individually wrapped.
- Bathroom Fixtures and Services – Shower/tub, toilet surfaces and hard surfaces will be more thoroughly cleaned.
- Bathroom Amenities – Hair and makeup mirrors will be carefully cleaned and bathroom cups will be individually wrapped.
- Thermostat and Electric Controls- will be added to the list of areas being cleaned by mousekeeping.
- Bedding – All linens and blankets will be changed out for your stay.
- Electronic Devices – Including remotes, phone keypad and handsets will be cleaned thoroughly.
- Hard Surfaces – Tables, work surfaces and hard flooring will receive enhanced cleaning measures.
- Cleaned and Wrapped Amenities – As we mentioned above, items like cups, cutlery, condiments and toiletries will be individually wrapped.
Though Disney acknowledges that they have a role to play in ensuring guest safety, they also highlight that there are ways that guests can do their part as well. This can be done through frequently washing your hands, maintaining social distancing guidelines and rescheduling your visit should a member of your party feel ill.
Disney reiterated their commitment to keep guests informed ahead of your visit in line with continued adjustments as part of Disney’s phased reopening plan.
