Marvel’s WandaVision to Resume Filming Next Month
WandaVision, one of the awesome new Marvel series heading to Disney+ will pick up filming next month after postponing production earlier this year due to COVID-19. Filming is set to continue in Los Angeles.
According to a recent piece in CBR, the news came from the Tampa Bay Comic Con Convention as Paul Bettany who plays Vision in the series said he had to cancel an appearance so that he could resume filming.
The statement said, “We finally received word from Paul Bettany’s representation, and unfortunately Paul had to cancel his appearance at TBCC this year due being called back by Disney for WandaVision filming in July, in Los Angeles,” the post read. “We’re working on guest additions!”
The production was shut down in mid-March along with another Marvel-based DIsney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The 6-episode series also features follows Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch and Paul Bettany as Vision.
Here’s a trailer that aired during the SuperBowl this year giving us a few insights into the series:
WandaVision was originally slated for a 2021 release but the project is being bumped forward until December 2020. For those following along with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you’ll know that Wanda is an Avenger with telekinesis and telepathy and VIsion is a hybrid of J.A.R.V.I.S, the Mind Stone and Ultron. The pair started a romantic relationship in Infinity War but ended when Vision was killed by Thanos.
In addition to the two title characters, we know that the series will also feature Teyonah Parris in the role as an adult Monica Rambeau (daughter of Maria Rambeau who is besties with Carol Danvers AKA Captain Marvel.) Kat Dennings will also be playing Darcy Lucy (From Thor and Thor: The Dark World) and Randall Park will be back as FBI agent Jimmy Woo who was last seen in Ant-Man and the Wasp. Kathryn Hahn has also signed on as Wanda’s neighbor.
The series is expected to focus on the relationship between Wanda and Vision. In a recent interview, Kevin Feige said the project will center on, “Having the opportunity to tell more of their story, to see more of what Wanda can do, more of what makes Vision Vision, and — most importantly — reveal a name that I’m not even sure we’ve said in the MCU yet, but we absolutely make a big deal of in the show, which is that Wanda is, in fact, the Scarlet Witch,”
