Is Disney Interested in Buying the XFL?

Disney has been in sports updates more than ever with the possibility of the NBA finishing their season at Walt Disney World’s ESPN sports complex. But, another sporting rumor has shown up with the possibility of Disney’s interest in buying the XFL.
The XFL
The XFL is an American Football League formally owned by WWF owner, Vince McMahon. The league had one season on NBC in 2001. After a recent revival, they league declared bankruptcy because of the COVID-19 shutdown. They were unable to complete the season and the financial hit was too much for the league.

XFL Interview
XFL news has published an interview with XFL insider Mike Mitchell. In the interview, Mitchell says the following:
“I know that media companies have made inquiries on the possibility of purchasing the XFL. I do know that both FOXand Disney have inquired. What I do not know is whether or not they are part of the 20 potential bidders and companies now that are in on the potential auction process. But I do know that FOX and Disney have shown interest in purchasing the XFL.“

The Sale
XFL news states there are 20 interested parties in the sale of the XFL. These are all unknown because of non-disclosure agreements, but sports writers are speculating these parties might include the NFL itself and other major media companies. The sale hearing takes place in a courtroom in Delaware on August 7th. At that time all will be known, including whether or not Disney is truly serious about owning their very own football league.
