Its National Luau Month! Let’s Celebrate With Our Friends At Aulani!
Though things at Aulani, Disney’s stunning Hawaiian resort maybe a wee bit quiet just now, there is still cause to celebrate. May is National Luau Month and though we can’t celebrate on the white sandy beaches of Hawaii, Disney is sharing a few resources that allow us to create a mini paradise at home.
There’s no better way to celebrate Luau Month than by paying tribute to Aulani’s KA WA‘A Lū‘au. This celebration of storytelling features beautiful music and dance and tells how Hawai‘i’s ancestors settled on O‘ahu’s ‘Ewa Plains – the very place where Aulani Resort is located.
Dress the Part:
Before we get started, you need the perfect luau outfit! For women it’s all about the bright colors and island-inspired prints. Head out to the garden and find the perfect flower (pua) for your hair. For men, get out your shorts, your brightest shirt and a cool pair of shades!
Limu Poke
Now that you’re all dressed up, let’s talk about food! No luau would be complete without the taste of the islands. That’s why we’re so excited to share this Limu Poke recipe with you directly from the chefs at Aulani!

Create Your Own Paper Lei
It would be a luau Disney friends without a lei. If you don’t have any at home don’t worry. Disney has an incredible papercraft walk-through where you can recreate this awesome accessory. It looks just like the image above!
Get Warmed Up
Before the luau gets started, why not get that energy flowing with a special hula that was created especially for Aulani! This easy to learn dance is so much fun.
