Time Warp 1980: Explaining Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars Explained should get an award for this one.
Alex and Mollie sent their channel back in time to 1980 and the premiere of Star Wars Episode V.

Five Amazing Easter Eggs in The Empire Strikes Back – YouTube in 1980
What if YouTube existed in 1980? What easter eggs would we be excited about in a franchise that only had two movies and a handful of books at the time?
“I am team Luke and Leia all the way,” is legit comedy gold by Alex. “They shared such a passionate kiss on Hoth; you can’t fake love like that.
“Now that Han is frozen, I expect it clears the way for Luke to get the girl,” he added.

But here’s the thing. WE HAD NO IDEA that Luck and Leia were twins. NOT AT ALL.
The above was a legitimate “ship” back in 1980. We literally had no clue that this was even a possibility.
And Alex plays it perfectly….

One Easter Egg I hadn’t remembered (or never knew) was that you can see the manufacturer’s writing on the bottom of Luke’s lightsaber as it stuck out of the snow.
“The prop was created by using a graph lex flashgun,” explained Alex.
Another great tidbit was about Luke’s X-wing, shown sticking out of the Dagobah swamp.
Alex explained that the red stripes on the ship’s wing — five of them — and the square above that, signify “Red Five.”
“Each X-wing had a different number of stripes, relative to its call sign,” said Damon.
Anyway, you get the picture. And, by the way, if you are not subscribed to Star Wars Explained, you’re definitely missing out. It’s the best “unofficial” source of Star Wars history and analysis.
