Walt Disney World Is Watching, Waiting
I thought this, too. Rick Munarriz of The Motley Fool — who owns and watches Disney stock — reported that Walt Disney World is being patient.
Walt Disney may have just opened its shopping and dining complex on Wednesday, but the stakes are higher when it comes to high-volume theme parks with queues to manage, attractions to perpetually sanitize, and crowd flows to regulate. Disney probably intentionally let its top rival submit its reopening plan first. The House of Mouse is going to watch — and learn.
Again, I think this is a hot take.
The Patient Mouse
SO many people are watching Disney, and will take The Mouse’s lead regarding reopening.
Disney knows this; you can find an example right here on MickeyBlog.com:
“Disney World may very well open later in June,” added Munarriz. “But it’s not accepting reservations for its on-site hotels until July. It has canceled existing reservations through the second week of June.
“Disney World can still get rolling again in June, but it would seem odd for it to stock the expected attendance-level cap with local annual pass holders over its more lucrative overnight guests.”
So When Will It Open?
Certainly, it’s anyone’s guess as to the official opening date.
However, our own Holly Ramey posted about Disney’s official statement confirming some of Munarriz’s thoughts:
Disney Issues Official Statement on Parks Reopening Timeline
And, I will add this: Although I am just as excited as ANYONE to see the doors to Walt Disney World (and Disneyland) open, I can wait until the time is right.
Walt Disney World Can Wait. We Can Wait for Disney World.
Certainly, it is in EVERYONE’s best interest for Disney to watch and wait. Many of us have been to WDW numerous times and will be there many more times again. We want it to be just as magical as before.
Some are waiting for their first trip to see Mickey. Those trips should be as close to perfect as they were prior to COVID-19 – just add masks.
Both sets of guests will be better off when the powers that be determine what the new normal looks like. Rushing that return to operation, and creating a “less than” situation, is contrary to the parks’ purpose.
And MickeyTravels will be there to help you plan that perfect vacation. You can even start NOW!
