Rebecca Campbell Bids a Fond Farewell To Disneyland After Her Short Time As President
What a busy week its been Disney friends! Yesterday Disney Springs at Walt Disney World opened it’s gates to the public with new social distancing measures put in place. Earlier in the week, there was a MASSIVE Disney exec reshuffling with a handful of Disney’ s chairmen, presidents and VPs getting moved around.
As part of the reshuffling, it was announced that Disneyland President Rebecca Campbell would be leaving her post at the “Happiest Place on Earth” to move into her new post as Chairman of Direct-to-Consumer and International at the Walt Disney Company. She succeeds long time veteran executive Kevin Mayer who announced that he would be moving over to TikTok to serve as CEO.
Campbell had been in been in the role of President for less than a year. She was moved into the post when Bob Iger stepped down as CEO earlier this year. This started a chain reaction of Bob Chapek moving into Bob Iger’s post as CEO and acting Disneyland President Josh D’Amaro moving over to Walt Disney World. At this time Campbell stepped into her role as Disneyland President.
Though her tenure was short, she has been with the company for 23 years so the prospect of leaving Disneyland is an emotional one. Campbell took to Instagram:
In the statement above, Campbell reflects on her time at Disneyland recalling that on her first day she went up to Walt’s apartment, looked out the window and had a powerful moment of watching the theme park bustle all around her. Campbell said, ‘I feel extremely grateful to have had this experience and to have met so many incredible people along the way. As I embark on my next role as chairman of Disney’s international business units and streaming services including Disney+, I want to thank all of you for making the Disneyland Resort truly the Happiest Place on Earth.”
As we previously announced here at MickeyBlog, Ken Potrock will be taking over the role of President at Disneyland Resort. Potrock was previously the President of Consumer Products for the Walt Disney Company. This was a position he served in for 25 years. In the post as President Campbell and now her successor Potrock oversee both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park as well as Disney’s three onsite hotels and the Downtown Disney District.
Here at MickeyBlog, we wish both Campbell and Potrock the best of luck in their new posts. Keep following along with us for the latest news and updates!
