Will Danny Trejo Be Written Into The Mandalorian?
Veteran Character Actor Could Find Himself in Disney+ Star Wars Show The Mandalorian
Looking quickly at his IMDB.com page — it’s an amazingly long scroll — it seems impossible that Danny Trejo hasn’t yet been in a Star Wars production.
I mean the guy has been in everything.
But he hasn’t appeared in a galaxy far, far away.
Gary Whitta Pledges To Put In A Good Word for Trejo
“[Rogue One: A Star Wars Story writer] Gary Whitta spoke to Trejo on his Animal Talking podcast (via Twitch) and championed the actor for a role in Disney+’s live-action Star Wars series,” posted CBR.com’s Tom Chapman. “I don’t have any clout at Lucasfilm, but let me tell you something, if I could wave a magic wand right now, Danny Trejo as a badass bounty hunter in the Star Wars universe. I think a lot of people would want to see that.”
“I’m going to call Filoni after the show, we’re going to get him on,” added Whitta.
Although Trejo (recently seen donating hundreds of meals to Los Angeles health care workers) probably doesn’t need the leg up.

Longtime Collaborator Robert Rodriguez To Direct
Trejo, a second cousin of Robert Rodriguez (yeah, the same guy who is directing an episode of The Mandalorian in Season 2), is an action-movie fan favorite and one of the most beloved figures in Hollywood.
He has also worked with Rodriguez a ton. So, maybe all of this is just a ruse.
After all, as IMDB.com reports, “His characters in the films of Robert Rodriguez are usually named after knives: Desperado (1995) (Navajas), the From Dusk Till Dawn trilogy (Razor Charlie), the Spy Kids movies (Machete), the Grindhouse (2007) trailer (Machete), Predators (2010) (Cuchillo), Machete (2010) (Machete again). Only in Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003) (Cucuy) is this not the case.”
Enter The Mexilorian?
Maybe we’ll see Trejo arrive on the scene with a character name like “Vibro” or something.
However, Trejo and Whitta seem to have already come up with a name:
Trejo praised Whitta for his work on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and putting the first Mexican in space with Diego Luna’s role as Cassian Andor. The pair also joked that Trejo in The Mandalorian should be called “The Mexilorian.”
