The anticipated theatrical release Ron’s Gone Wrong from 20th Century Fox and Locksmith Animation has hit another snag. Originally planned for November 2020, then February 2021, the film has now been pushed back a third time.
According to a report from Animation Magazine, the new release date has determined to be April 23, 2021. This will replace a different 20th Century Fox film that has not yet been named. The film was included in Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Now that the release date has been pushed back again, some may wonder if this film will survive.
Ron’s Gone Wrong is set to be a comedy/adventure about a bot who is every kid’s best friend. The movie focuses on one bot who doesn’t work quite the way he is supposed to and is a story of friendship. Directed by Jean-Philippe Vine and Octavio E. Rodriguez, this film will remain stalled in the planning phase for now.
This movie was first introduced in 2017 and was originally rumored to rival Pixar’s overwhelmingly popular line of films. With 20th Century Fox now falling under the Disney umbrella, it will be exciting to see how this film stacks up to those in the Disney archives.
Ron’s Gone Wrong Not the Only Film Pushed Back
In addition to Ron’s Gone Wrong, 20th Century Fox’s The New Mutants has received a release date push-back. This film has seen a particularly bumpy road, originally intended to be released in 2018. Since being announced, New Mutants has been pushed back four separate times. While this may be discouraging for those working on these films, we think that they both sound promising!
What are your thoughts on these push-backs? Do you think that more changes will occur due to Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox? We would love to know what you think!
