British Woman Cancels Birthday Trip To Disneyland Paris But Makes Stunning Vegan Cake Instead
What do you do when your Birthday visit to Disneyland Paris gets cancelled? You bring the theme parks to you! Nadia Hyland was celebrating her 30th birthday and when the nursery school teacher found out that her birthday plans at Disneyland Paris had fallen through during to COVID-19 she decided to go all out and create a dairy-free cake.
With a bit of pixie dust and a spoonful of sugar she managed to whip up a delightful Disney treat and we here at MickeyBlog just had to share it with you!
According to MetroUK, Nadia made a multi-coloured three-layer cake. As you can see from the images she shared with Metro the entire cake was adorned with princesses with the enchanted rose at the very top!
She said that the entire Disney cake went down a treat even with family and friends that didn’t share her vegan diet!
Nadia said that finding a vegan cake at a supermarket can be hard. She is a nursery school worker and with schools closed she used her time at home to brush up on her baking skills. We’d say she did a mighty fine job of it. According to Nadia, each cake tier is a different flavor: chocolate orange with chocolate buttercream, lemon sponge with lemon buttercream and vanilla sponge with jam and vanilla buttercream. She estimates that her birthday creation took about 20 hours to make!
She says finding a vegan birthday cake in a supermarket is challenging at the best of times. With schools closed at the moment, Nadia has used her spare time to perfect her baking skills and decided to challenge herself to make the creation. The cake is made up of three different tiers: chocolate orange with a chocolate buttercream, lemon sponge with lemon buttercream, and a vanilla sponge with jam and vanilla buttercream. She adds: ‘In total, I probably spent about 20 hours making it.
Nadia told the Metro, ‘Baking the cakes alone seemed to take up the majority of my time! The fun bit was making the edible sugar rose, the pearls, and all of the little decorations that I felt represented each princess! ‘In total, I have probably spent about £60 on it which seems a lot but you’re only 30 once and it is still much cheaper than Disneyland!’
So what does she have to say about the notoriety that her creation is getting? “‘When I showed my family and friends they all said how good it was but they have to say that don’t they!.” Nadia added, ‘I honestly can’t believe the lovely things people are saying. To be honest it was just a way to spend a little time in lockdown and I really enjoyed doing it!’
