Who Will Be Wearing Masks When Shanghai Disneyland Opens?
A lot of excitement has been buzzing around since the announcement that Shanghai Disneyland will be re-opening on May 11th. The park will open at a limited capacity and will have many safety measures in place. This means that cast members and guests will be wearing masks, which will be a requirement.

But what does this mean for the beloved characters that so many guests look forward to seeing? An article from The Orange County Register by Brady MacDonald gives us an idea. According to the article, Disney CEO Bob Chapek announced during a conference call that face characters such as Cinderella will not be wearing masks. They will, however, be located at a safe distance from the crowd.
This means that traditional character meet and greets will not be taking place. Instead, characters will make appearances at secure points throughout the day. According to MacDonald’s article, this means stages, balconies, and other remote locations.

As for the other characters who present in a full costume? Unfortunately, interactions with those characters will not be permitted either. While Chapek did not specify if these characters will be wearing masks, characters in costume will also be waving to the crowds from remote locations.
The article goes on to describe where you might be spotting some of your favorite characters. Winnie the Pooh and friends will be viewable from Fantasyland, while Captain Jack Sparrow can be seen in the Treasure Cove area.
