Construction Starts On Disney’s New Flamingo Crossings Project
Though the theme parks are currently shuttered, it looks like Disney is moving forward with construction work to Flamingo Crossings. According to a recent piece in the Orlando Business Journal, a notice of commencement was filed on April 30th for the construction of “new shell buildings.”
The permits are pretty non-descript but they do highlight eleven locations where work will be carried out. Though Disney hasn’t commented on the notice, the company has previously announced that Flamingo Crossings will feature a 250,000 square foot retail hub with more than 50 storefronts.

Target
.According to the Orlando Business Journal, Target announced earlier that they will be one of the stores coming to Flamingo Crossings. Other businesses include Five Guys, Ben and Jerry’s, Dunkin’ Donuts, PDQ, Bento Asian Kitchen & Sushi and Walgreens.
In addition, several hotels are expected to be a part of this new development adding nearly 2,000 additional guest rooms to the area. This includes the existing SpringHill Suites by Marriott and TownPlace Suites by Marriott in addition to a new Residence Inn and Fairfield by Marriott as well as Homewood Suites and Home 2 Suites by Hilton. There will also be a Hampton Inn which isn’t expected to open up until later.
The project is being overseen by Doradus Partner out of Huntsville, Alabama who said in a statement, “We are extremely excited to be bringing a very unique hospitality offering at Flamingo Crossings Town Center. The combination of this fantastic location, well known and established flags, enhanced amenities and high-quality construction will make for a first-class experience for our guests who are seeking a value-based lodging experience near one of main entrances to the Walt Disney World Resort. ”
As the Orlando Business Journal points out, Disney regularly invests in Orlando assets like the project outlined above to expand the regions $75.2 billion tourism industry.
