Julie Andrews Said She’d Look Forward To Working With Anne Hathaway Again In ‘Princess Diaries 3’
Could we be returning to Genovia at some point soon? Fans have been eagerly awaiting a third instalment of the beloved Princess Diaries films and rumors have even been making the rounds this year that Disney is considering the project. So what do the stars of the film think about a possible reunion?
According to a recent interview Julie Andrews gave on CBS program Talk@Home, she’d be up for it! During the interview, she said, “It’s long been talked about but nothing sort of been on my desk or anything like that.” Discussing further whether she would ever reprise the role she said, I think I would. I’m getting awfully old and crotchety. I’m not sure if it’s the right timing, but I think to work with Annie [Hathaway] would be lovely again.”
She adding before moving on to another topic, “And yeah, sure I would be up for it,” she said, adding that: “we should wait if the script comes in — just wait for that.”
So what does her costar Anne Hathaway think about a potential reunion? She’s been relatively silent on the topic though back in January of 2019 she revealed that there was a script making the rounds for a third film. This revelation was made during Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.
Hathaway went on to add that at that time that Julie Andrews and producer Debra Martin where both on-board to be a part of the project but according to a recent piece in GeoNews, she was reported to have added that those involved, “don’t want to unless it’s perfect because we love it just as much as you guys love it.”
Again, according to GeoNews, Anne discussed the film again in May 2019, when she simply told Hollywood Life that any sequel was in the hands of Disney. Since then, things have been relatively quiet regarding a third film.
With Hollywood currently shut down due to COVID-19, it may be a while before we hear anything further regarding the possibility of a sequel. However, this is a story we’ll be following closely here at MickeyBlog and we promise to let you know of any further developments!
