Governor Ron DeSantis Flies To Washington DC To Discuss Re-Opening Florida With President Trump

As we just reported here at MickeyBlog, The Orange County Economic Task Force met today to discuss the guidelines and mandates for a Phase 1 and Phase 2 re-opening for Orange County businesses. This includes the Walt Disney World theme parks and resorts.

As the committee continues to work on guidelines, local legislators are looking for guidance from Governor DeSantis regarding when he plans to re-open the state and the impact this will have on Orlando tourism.

According to reports just coming in from ABC 7, Gov. DeSantis flew to Washington D.C. this morning for a meeting with President Trump to discuss plans to re-open Florida. He told reporters during a press conference that he will make on the announcement on Wednesday regarding his reopening plans.

The meeting started with Trump praising DeSantis as the two discussed plans to re-open Florida by April 30th. Check out some snippets from the meeting here:

DeSantis spoke positively about access to testing stating that the state had more testing capabilities than the needed. He added that the Florida still has adequate medical resources and has not run out of ventilators. He also bashed reports that Florida was one of the areas of the country that many thought would be overwhelmed with new cases.

DeSantis told reporters that the announcement he’s making tomorrow will include details regarding the expiration of the state’s stay-at-home order.
