Top 4 Reasons on Why Walt Disney World Reopen for Summer 2020
As we have been covering, there’s tons of rumors around when Walt Disney World reopen. As I continue to stress, everything is speculation until Disney confirms a date. But, we here at MickeyBlog.com are optimistic it will be in time for Summer 2020!
With some inspiration from Rick Munarriz at fool.com, we have four reasons to support our optimism that Walt Disney World indeed will reopen for everyone to have a magical Summer 2020.
1. The Time Will Never Be Right for Walt Disney World to Reopen
With news that a COVID-19 vaccine might be months if not years away, there is no way the global economy can stay closed that entire time. This, of course, includes Walt Disney World and other Parks around the world.
Since it might be a long time for a vaccine, you can bet that Disney is already brainstorming safeguards to stop the spread of the virus in their Parks. As we have speculated, some of these safeguards may include mandatory temperature checks for Cast Members and even a rapid COVID-19 test before entering the Parks for the day.
It’s also important to note that Orlando and Orange County are in a good spot when it comes to new cases and hospital numbers. Just today, the Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, said that it looks like they hit the “peak” back on April 1, 2020.
Since a stop of the economy can’t go on forever and numbers are in the decline, that might lead to good news that Walt Disney World will be open in time for Summer 2020.
2. Smaller, Regional Theme Parks and Resorts Are Set to Open for Summer 2020
Smaller, regional Parks and Resorts are set to open in time for Summer 2020 – especially in the South. For example, Kentucky Kingdom just announced that they plan to reopen in June. Universal Orlando has also announced that they plan to reopen on May 31, 2020.
Walt Disney World most likely doesn’t want to be the first of the theme parks to reopen. However, at some point, some of these smaller ones are going to start opening and it’s likely that Disney will follow suit – once it is safe and the proper procedures are in place.
3. Walt Disney World Can Set Reopening Phases
As I have stated in some of my previous articles, things are going to look a little different when Walt Disney World does officially reopen.
As I mentioned above, new protocols and procedures are going to be in place to keep everyone safe and healthy. Disney can set this pace of these phases.
These phases MIGHT include that some of the attractions are only open in limited capacities at first. Or, a requirement might be that you must be staying at one of the official Walt Disney World Resort Hotels.
Due to the global implications of the COVID-19 outbreak, it’s likely that international Guests would be limited from coming to the Parks which would keep numbers down as well when things begin to reopen. How long each phase would last is unknown but at this times a good measure can be two to three weeks.
4. Shaghai Disneyland Should Announce Reopening Date Soon
As we have been reporting, preparations for Shanghai Disney’s reopening are already in place. On March 9, in a phased reopening strategy, it was announced that select operations in Disneytown, Wishing Star Park, and the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel would resume. Since then, we have received reports that parade testing and castle shows has begun along with implementing social distancing procedures in queues.
Bog Iger has said that he will look to China on how they will reopen and use it as a guide to the reopening of Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Let’s hope Shaghai reopens soon and Walt Disney World is right behind it!
I want to reiterate this is purely speculation at this time. But I am hopeful to visit Walt Disney World again in Summer 2020!
