Chef Jose Andres Feeds The Hungry Across The Country -Offers FREE Meals To Healthcare Workers
If you’ve never been to Jaleo at Disney Springs then you don’t know what you’re missing, Chef Jose Andres has gained a reputation for serving up some of the best Tapas you’ll find. But something you may not have know is that he’s also known as a philanthropist and humanitarian and is always looking for ways to give back. It has never been more evident then by looking at the effort he is going to provide food and support to those in need during the COVID-19 crisis.
Today we launched a special e-gift card program with 100% of proceeds going directly to our employees: half toward extending pay and benefits, and half toward ThinkFamilyFund, which helps support our employees and their families during financial hardship. https://t.co/2aNsuHJjBH

One such example (as you can see from the tweet above) is that during the start of the COVID-19 closures, Andres almost immediately launched a gift card offer to his restaurants with all of the proceeds going to support his employees that had been impacted during the coronavirus closure. These gift cards are still available and can be purchased by following the link above.
Just a few weeks ago, we also shared with you details on how Jaleo at Disney Springs collaborated with Reyes Mezcaleria and Good Salt to prepare and deliver 500 FREE meals to neighbors in the Downtown Orlando area as well as 120 meals to Orlando nurses.
Since then via his @WCKitchen charity, Jose Andres has been working tirelessly to bring free food to communities in the US. Here’s an example of the incredible work he was doing today in the Washington D.C. area.
On my way to deliver hot meals to @NIH @TheChildrensInn from @jaleo in downtown DC! My @thinkfoodgroup team also setup a Jaleo Bodega if you need supplies…And anyone who needs a free meal can still come any day! #ChefsForAmerica @WCKitchen pic.twitter.com/G8Ue7FyopG

Similar initiatives have taken place everywhere from New York and Orlando to Hawaii and Seattle over the course of the past month. Chef Andres has been crucial in mobilizing eateries across the country in setting up food distribution centers to those in need of a meal. If you don’t follow along with @WCKitchen we recommend you do!
This is my promise! My mom and dad, and uncle, and godmother were nurses, doctors, pharmacist! When I reopen my restaurants, I hope I will, every active Doctor and Nurse will eat for free for the rest of the year! Thankful #HeroesOfCovid19 @thinkfoodgroup https://t.co/HU1oHrbD5y

Last but not least, Chef Andres also made a pledge earlier this month that once his restaurant locations are open for business he will offer every active doctor and nurse free meals for the rest of the year as a show of thanks for all of the work they have tirelessly done on the frontlines during this epidemic.
We are following Chef Jose Andres activities closely here at MickeyBlog and promise to keep you posted. In the meantime, you can make a donation to his World Central Kitchen charity where to date over 3 million meals have been delivered to families in need!
With all that he is doing to mobilize volunteers and help feed the hungry during this volatile time, it is no wonder that Chef Andres was nominated for the Noble Peace Prize back in 2018.
