Disney+ Already Starting Work on The Mandalorian Season 3
A report in the Hollywood trade magazine Variety just delivered some amazing news for Star Wars fans.
In an exclusive, Will Thorne reported, “The Mandalorian Season 3 Already in the Works at Disney Plus“:
Sources close to the production have confirmed that creator Jon Favreau has been “writing season 3 for a while,” and that the art department, led by Lucasfilm vice president and executive creative director Doug Chiang, has been creating concepts for Season 3 “for the past few weeks.”
“We’ve just started pre-production and are looking into further adventures for the Mandalorian in Season 3,” revealed one source.
In addition, another source with knowledge of the situation confirmed that the production design department began working on season 3 on April 20, pointing to the fact the department requires “such a huge lead time” to explain why “the gears have started grinding really early on.”
That’s awesome news, right?
For many of us, The Mandalorian draws a straight line to the Star Wars of our youths. And for others, the new storytelling has been some of the most interesting Star Wars of their lifetimes.
And the story of The Mandalorian really does “bind the galaxy together.” So it would be great to see more of that (including appearances by Ahsoka Tano and other characters) going forward.
Of course, we can look forward to The Mandalorian Season 2 later this year.
And, in the meantime, I talked about how I hope the Star Wars galaxy unfolds in a recent podcast with my good friend Robin Vogt of Brick City Blockade.
