Walt Disney World Removes Hours for First Part of May 2020
As we reported a few weeks ago, Walt Disney World added park hours for the beginning of May 2020. However, after checking today, it appears hours for the first part of May 2020 have now been retracted.
Currently, park hours for May 2020 at Walt Disney World begin on Sunday, May 10. As I stated in my last article, this means nothing official until Disney confirms an reopening date. But, at least it gives us a little hope!
Earlier this week, the United States government issued a set of phased guidelines on reopening states and regions of the country called “Opening Up American Again.” The guidelines include three different phases with phase one being the most restrictive and phase three being as close to “normal” as we lived before the COVID-19 outbreak. Before beginning a reopening phase, states and regions must reach a certain strict criteria.
It is unknown at this time what phase of the “Opening Up America Again” guidelines Florida will open with and when that process will begin. Following those guidelines should give us a better idea exactly when Walt Disney World will begin welcoming Guests again.
If Walt Disney World does reopen in May 2020, it will be interesting to see what, if any, restrictions and new procedures are in place. Several theories have been circulating including the requirement of masks and even rapid COVID-19 tests. I personally believe that at first, to limit crowd sizes, only those Guests staying at an on-property Walt Disney World Resort will be allowed in the Parks. And, maybe Annual Passholders residing in Florida.
While an official Walt Disney World reopening date is still up in the air, I am cautiously optimistic that May 2020 is in the cards! Let us know when you think the reopening will begin in the comments below!
