Check Out This Inspiring Story From RunDisney Participant Hannah Herman

Here at MickeyBlog we’ve been sharing ways, compliments of #DisneyMagicMoments, that we can keep the Disney magic alive during our time at home.  Today, we wanted to pass on a feelgood story about a very special runDisney participant. 

This is just one of several Marathon stories Disney will be following over the next couple of weeks. If this tale of bravery and ambition doesn’t inspire you- I don’t know what will. Check out Hannah’s incredible story below: 

Hannah Herman

Each year Hannah celebrates February 21st which is the day she was adopted from an orphanage in Kazakhstan. However, this past February was extra special as not only did it mark the 10th year that Hannah had been together with her family it was also the time that she proved doctors wrong. You see they told her adoptive mom Erin that Hannah might never walk again but she finished her first runDisney event. 

You see, Hannah was born with a severe club foot and was left in a hospital in Kazakhstan. Doctors felt at the time that Hannah would likely never walk as a result of the condition. However, despite the challenges, Erin brought Hanna to the USA and she immediately began treatments. At the age of 2, Hannah walked for the first time and according to a recent piece on Disney Parks Blog, “has been unstoppable since.” 

These days Hannah both runs and swims competitively. She successfully completed this year’s Disney Princess 5K and has set her sights on completing a triathlon in the future.  Check out Hannah’s story in this incredible video shared by Disney.
