WESH Shares a Look Look at a Very Empty Walt Disney World
For anyone that has been to Disney before chances are you’re used to the hustle and bustle down Main Street, the long queues to meet some of your favorite Disney characters and jam-packed shops and restaurants.
That is a very different picture to what the theme parks currently look like. WESH ran a video yesterday offering an aerial view of theme parks that resembles ghost towns these days.
Let’s take a look.
As you can see from the shots above, there are very little signs of life at the theme park except for the occasional golf cart for the few Walt Disney World Cast Members that haven’t been furloughed.
We previously reported that construction is also being restricted and that the numerous projects Disney had in the pipeline including a makeover of Cinderella Castle have been suspended until further notice.
Today, marks the one month anniversary of the theme parks being closed. The Magic Kingdom shot off its last firework during a closing ceremony on March 15th that featured, Mickey, Minnie and the Walt Disney World President Josh D’Amaro As of going to print, the theme parks remain shuttered until further notice. In three days (April 19th) most of the 77,000 cast members working for Walt Disney World in Orlando will be furloughed until further notice.
However, if there’s one thing that we’re left with its the images of the statue of Mickey and Walt holding hands in the middle of an empty HUB. It serves as a poignant reminder that the Disney magic is still there!
