Disneyland Budgets $200,000 For New Frontierland Entrance Once Theme Park Re-Opens
Disneyland may currently be closed. But, when it re-opens there are some big plans in store as the theme park continues renovations. As part of Project Stardust, $200,000 has been designated to re-design an entrance into Frontierland.
According to a recent piece in the Orange County Register, a building permit was filed before the COVID-19 closure. The work to be carried out includes 15-foot tall faux wooden gates and a 16-foot long marquee. Plans are also in place to widen the existing pedestrian bridge to make it easier for traffic flow.
Initially, there was speculation on both coasts as to whether Disney would continue work at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. However, Disney officials are now saying that all construction has been suspended in line with directives by government and health officials. As we previously reported here at MickeyBlog, this will also have an impact on the Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure which was slated to open up this Summer.
As part of Project Stardust, other projects at Disneyland were already underway at the theme parks. As the Orange Country Register points out, this includes updates to the walkway around the hub as well as updates to curbs on Main Street USA to make it easier for strollers, wheelchairs and ECVs to navigate. Disneyland was also at work on refurbishments to Haunted Mansion, King Arthur Carousel and Snow White’s Scary Adventure all of which are postponed until re-opening as well as work on the brand-new Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
This isn’t the first time Disneyland has set aside funds to work on the entryways to the individual lands. Similar changes were made to the entrance of Adventureland back in the Spring of 2019 to make it easier for traffic to get around an entryway that was always really congested.
