Largest Union Coalition at Walt Disney World Reaches Furlough Agreement with Disney
As we previously reported here at MickeyBlog, as we inch ever closer to April 19th (the date that Disney World furloughs all non-essential employees) Unions are heading to the negotiation table with Disney to hash out details for their workers.
According to a piece, this morning in the Orlando Sentinel, the largest unions coalition at Disney World which represents 40,000+ employees announced today that they have reached an agreement with Disney.
The Service Trades Council Union is made up of six member unions. It said that it will release details of its agreement with Disney including union members’ benefits, unemployment status and return to work details during a live Facebook conference which will take place at noon today.
Here is the link for those interested in checking that press conference out.
The purpose of the press conference linked above is to address union members’ benefits, employment status, and future return to work, a news release from the union said.
The STCU as a collective represents workers in a variety of posts. It encompasses everything from theme park characters and ride attendants to housekeepers, lifeguards, bus drivers and more. This STCU represents over half of the 77,000 employees at Walt Disney World.
