Meghan Markle’s New Documentary For Disney+ ‘Elephant’ Premieres Today
Starting today, Disney+ viewers can check out a brand new DisneyNature documentary called ‘Elephant.’ The film has been the source of much buzz over the last few weeks mainly due to the fact that Meghan Markle is narrating the film.
According to a recent piece on GMA, Markle reportedly recorded the voiceover in London last fall and had first heard of the project through mutual friends of the filmmakers.
Good Morning America added that this is currently the only project Meghan has completed for Disney thus far. In the documentary, Meghan’s narration covers the migration of an elephant named Shani and her family who must make an epic 1,0000-mile trek spanning 8 months across Africa.
Check out the exclusive footage from GMA here as Meghan playfully describing a spontaneous mud bath between the herd.
“The older elephants all know this could be the last easy water for many months, so they’re going to make the most of it,” Meghan says in the clip.
To celebrate Earth Month, Disneynature in conjunction with the Disney Conservation Fund are supporting Elephants Without Borders, an organization working in Botswana to ensure the safety of people and elephants. The charity strives to protect Botswana’s elephants and provide resources to the communities living near them.
This documentary is drawing a lot of attention for Markle as it marks her first professional engagement after stepping down as “senior members” of the royal family. The couple officially vacated their roles on March 31st.
The couple will now spend the majority of time with their 10-month old son Archie in North America and they will no longer be using their HRH titles. Recent reports are that the couple are looking to settle in Los Angeles after spending some downtime in Canada.
As part of their agreement with the Royal Family, the couple will no longer represent Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. They also will no longer receive public funds for their royal duties.
