Tom Hanks Sings “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow”
It’s been a while since Tom Hanks played the pilot Chesley Sullenberger movie “Sully”, but in a 2016 interview about the movie with Peter Travers, Hanks, breaks into song. A song that is very special to Disney fans and one we need to hear today. Even is it was sung a few years ago.
Hanks himself has admitted he and his wife, Rita Wilson, have both been diagnosed with COVID-19. Originally, isolated in Australia the couple has since made it back to the US. Hanks says in the interview, “There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow…which I believe by the way.” We are right there with you Tom, we believe it too.
The song was written by the Sherman brothers for the original display at the 1964 World’s Fair. In 1975, the animatronic display was moved to the Magic Kingdom, named the Carousel of Progress, sponsored by GE and the rest is history. Here are the lyrics to the song:
Shining at the end of every day
And tomorrow’s just a dream away
He follows his dream with mind and heart
And when it becomes a reality
It’s a dream come true for you and me
Shining at the end of every day
There’s a great, big, beautiful tomorrow
Just a dream away
