Could The Fantastic Four Be Making an Appearance in the ‘Captain Marvel’ Sequel?
Since Disney’s acquisition of Fox, fans have been hoping that Marvel would find a way to bring the Fantastic Four into the fold. According to a recent piece on CheatSheet, that day may have arrived.
Inside sources are reporting that the Fantastic Four may appear in Captain Marvel 2.
Last Summer, Marvel outlined all of the projects that would be hitting the theaters over the next two years as part of the company’s phase 4 line-up. Notably absent from the franchise were Fantastic Four, and X-Men.
However, don’t despair as it would appear that Marvel is looking for other ways to introduce these characters into the franchise.
Ryan Reynolds has already confirmed that Deadpool 3 is under development, and inside sources now claim that Marvel has a plan for featuring Fantastic Four in an upcoming project.
Source claim that Larson’s sequel will be set in the Quantum Realm, which is where Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben (AKA The Fantastic Four)have been hanging out.
The insider did not have any specific details to share about the team’s debut but introducing them in the Quantum Realm makes sense. No news has been given regarding a premiere date for ‘Captain Marvel 2’ but sources are suggesting 2022.
Another possible home for the Fantastic Four is Ant-Man 3. The film is also slated for 2022 release with filming starting next year. We do know that Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and director Peyton Reed are returning for the project.
Since Ant-Man is the franchise that introduced the Quantum Realm there has been a lot of speculation that the Fantastic Four will debut in Scott Lang and Hank Pym’s next outing.
Little is known about the plot for the Ant Man film however so it is just rumor.
So what about casting? If fans had their way John Krasinski would be filling the role of Mr. Fantastic. In a recent interview with SYFY, Krasinski even said that he might be up for the role, “I’d totally be open to that,” he shared. “I love the Marvel Universe, I love watching those movies. They’re such a great time and so well done. I always say, ‘In Kevin Feige I trust.’ He’s such a smart guy, I would never pretend to know what he’s thinking. But if he’s thinking about it, I’d be psyched.”
